Summer at SPUT is Not Over Yet...

It’s hard to believe that we only have one week left in our 6-week summer program! The past five weeks have been filled with tennis lessons, competitions, leadership development, and more for 800+ youth in SPUT’s programs. Thank you to our excellent program participants, families, coaches and coordinators, and donors for making this summer one of the best yet!

Are you looking for ways to keep your kids involved with tennis and SPUT in August and beyond? Register your child for a half-day Academic Creative Engagement (ACE) camp this August at Arkwright Park, Eastview Recreation Center, and Carty Park! Drop your child off anytime from 8:30-9:00 am and pick them up at 12:30 pm after they have eaten lunch provided by the Saint Paul Public Schools. To register, click here. You’re Invited to Saint Paul Urban Tennis’ FREE Community Carnival!

Kids will enjoy a ton of fun with Yard Games led by our youth coaches, Arts and Crafts, Kickball, a Basketball Free Throw Challenge, a Reading Tent, a Dunk Tank, Tennis Games, and more! Raffle tickets to win prizes will be given at each activity. Carnival-goers are invited to enjoy a free hotdog lunch which will include chips and a delicious cookie from Cookie Cart.

Last Chance to Win a Trip to New York City, Sept. 29 – Oct. 2

Put pen to paper for the chance to win a trip to New York City, September 29 – October 2! The USTA Foundation NJTL Essay Contest, presented by Deloitte, is now open. NJTL (Junior Team Tennis) participants are asked to write essays answering a thought-provoking question requiring research and analysis.

The question for the 2022 Essay Contest is, “Mayor David Dinkins was convinced that tennis instills confidence, character, sportsmanship, and teamwork. He envisioned the sport as a vehicle to drive you closer to your dreams. Do you agree that tennis develops these positive qualities? Are there other skills or positive aspects gained from playing tennis? What are your dreams? How can tennis help you achieve those dreams and develop meaningful relationships?” Applications must be submitted to SPUT by 12:00 p.m. on July 24, 2022. Contact us if you have additional questions regarding the essay contest.
