As a sub, you will attend all coach training's and step in to sub when coaches are unavailable. This position is ideal for coaches who would like to support our programs but can not commit to a full summer.

Full-Time Staff Positions

Director of Tennis Programs and Community Engagement

Reporting to the Executive Director (ED), the Director of Tennis Programs & Community Engagement is responsible for the design, staffing, evaluation and scaling of our tennis & leadership program offerings. This person will oversee our coaches, program coordinators, and site managers to ensure that our tennis program delivery is high quality and consistent with tennis industry standards. Working with the Executive Director and other program staff, this person will assist in the design, implementation and delivery of all tennis programming.

Major Responsibilities:

1. Programs

Tennis

  • Plan all youth programming for summer, fall, winter, and spring seasons.
  • Secure necessary contracts with the city, schools and universities for tennis court usage.
  • Oversee the recruitment, selection, scheduling, and development of all tennis coaches and program coordinators.
  • Manage tennis programming budget, ensuring that revenue and expenses are balanced.
    • Recommend program fee increases as needed.
    • Manage hourly wages for coaching staff.
    • Track inventory and order equipment and supplies for all programs.
    • Track participant demographics and attendance to support grant and donation requests for subsidized program fees.
  • Develop curriculum to support consistent and high-quality tennis program delivery.

Warrior Leadership Academy

  • Plan and deliver program annually
  • Support the planning and design of the leadership retreat
  • Provide on court tennis instruction 15-18 Saturdays from November to March
  • Assist with workshops and/or leadership development sessions that may include weeknights and weekends
  • Manage communications with youth throughout season
  • Manage partnerships/guest pros
  • Manage transportation strategies that include coordinating busses for youth during season
  • Administer pre and post surveys

2. Partnerships

  • Establish partnership contracts with schools, recreation centers, daycare centers, public housing developments and others to effectively reach our targeted audiences and grow program participation.
  • Maintain and develop new partnerships to promote SPUT and programs.
  • Assist in recruitment of tennis players, pros and others for SPUT fundraising events

3. Evaluation and Data Collection

  • Develop evaluation strategy for all SPUT programs
  • Track program outputs and outcomes to support continuous program quality improvement and to satisfy accountability requirements.
  • Provide quarterly program reports to Executive Director
  • Participate in Sprockets meetings (Out-of-School-Time Network) and support the data collection efforts of SPUT

4. Supervisory

  • Provide work plans and manage tennis coaches, summer coordinators and other staff appropriate to tennis programs
  • Support the professional development of SPUT coaches and part time staff relating to programs.

Internal Relationships:

All SPUT staff and Board members, Youth Council, program mentors and volunteers

External Relationships:

Compensation:

Program Director

For 32 years, Saint Paul Urban Tennis (SPUT) has provided youth development opportunities through our tennis, education, leadership and employment programs. Our mission is to “strengthen our community by educating and empowering youth to realize their full potential.” SPUT provides free or low-cost programming for ages 5-18 throughout Saint Paul, MN, with our headquarters at Saint Paul’s Eastview Rec Center on Eastview Park.
We are looking for a Program Director to serve as a member of the SPUT Leadership Team with responsibility for the design, coordination, evaluation and scaling of our program offerings. This person will ensure that both SPUT’s on and off-court programming are of high quality and high benefit to the youth we serve.
Major Responsibilities:
 
1. Program Management
 
Tennis Programs
  • Work with the Tennis Director to plan program offerings, schedules and site locations for youth tennis programs for ages 5-18 (summer, fall, winter, and spring seasons)
  • Work with the Tennis Director to add (non-tennis) education components and ensure high-quality delivery of tennis lesson programs, community outreach programs, and week-long Academic Creative Engagement camps
  • Secure necessary contracts with the city, schools, and universities for tennis court usage
SPUT Leadership Academy (60+ high school players)
  • Recruit high school players, manage application process, select and notify participants
  • Design off-court WLA workshops, activities and experiences, recruit volunteers, and create materials to deliver desired learning outcomes
  • Monitor and work with WLA youth to meet program requirements
Employment PLUS (8-12 high school youth)
  • Recruit, hire, and provide job skills training for high school student workers after school as seasonal tennis coaches and program, office, and facility assistants
  • Design “PLUS” curriculum (activities and experiences) to help Employment PLUS youth advance their skills and knowledge in financial literacy, college and career exploration, digital literacy, and more
  • Recruit volunteers and mentors
2. Partnership Cultivation
  • Establish partnership contracts with schools, recreation centers, youth-serving community organizations, public housing developments, and more to reach underserved communities with SPUT’s Community Engagement tennis programming
  • Develop community collaborations to enhance youth experience in SPUT’s Academic Creative Engagement Camps, Leadership Academy, and Employment PLUS program
3. Evaluation and Data Collection
  • Develop an evaluation strategy for all SPUT programs
  • Conduct pre- and post-program surveys, compile results for program evaluation
  • Track program outputs and outcomes to support continuous program quality improvement and to satisfy accountability requirements
4. Administrative Support
  • Assist with setting up program registration; respond to questions
  • Assist with Grant Accountability reporting
Qualifications
● Bachelor’s Degree in related field
● 3+ years of program design and management experience, preferably in a youth setting
● Experience developing community collaborations and partnerships
● Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate clearly and effectively-- verbally and in writing
● Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
● Proficient use of Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Publisher)
● Passion to enrich young lives through tennis, leadership and education

Compensation:

Director of Communications and Marketing

We are looking for a Director of Communications and Marketing to oversee and be responsible for all communications, marketing, and advertising to promote SPUT’s mission and programs. This position will also help SPUT develop community connections to reach youth who need our programs most.
Major Responsibilities:
 
Communications & Marketing
  • In conjunction with SPUT’s long term goals and strategies, develop communication and marketing strategies to grow program participation and constituent engagement
  • Develop and execute annual Marketing and Communications Plan for all SPUT programs and activities, to include print and electronic media (particularly social media) and community outreach
  • Manage website design, content, and navigation
  • Write and design promotional materials for all programs and events
  • Write and design Annual Reports
  • Capture SPUT stories through pictures and testimonials
  • Serve as general communication contact for parents of kids enrolled in SPUT programs (phone, email)
  • Manage communications and run reports through SPUT’s Customer Relationship Management software, NEON
  • Assist with fundraising tasks/events and communications as needed
  • Maintain regular hours at Eastview Recreation Center to ensure that SPUT is accessible to the community on a consistent basis
Program Delivery Support
  • Support the program delivery team as needed for the following SPUT programs: High school Warrior Leadership Academy
  • Tennis Lesson Programs and Outreach Programs
  • Academic Creative Engagement Camps
  • High school Employment PLUS (after school) program
Administrative Support
  • Assist with the processing of program registrations, event registrations, and donations
  • Answer general phone line during office hours and ensure that all voicemail messages have quick response
  • Assist Executive Director with Grant Accountability reporting
  • Ensure that accurate records are kept according to SPUT’s Record Retention policy
Qualifications Needed
  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field
  • 2+ years of experience in communications and marketing
  • Excellent writing and editing skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Publisher)
  • Proficient use of design software for creating marketing materials (i.e. InDesign, Canva, other)
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Passion to enrich young lives through tennis, leadership and education

Compensation:

$40,000 to $50,000 annually as a full-time exempt employee
