Not everyone can make it to a court and that is okay. Saint Paul Urban Tennis is committed to giving everyone access to quality programming and the joys of tennis. We work hard to make our programs accessible. Our Community Engagement programs bring tennis, coaching, and fun to gyms, parking lots, and even the occasional baseball field across Saint Paul.
Community Engagement Partners
Maxfield is an elementary school based in the historic Rondo neighborhood of Saint Paul. Working in partnership with Fred Wells Tennis and Education (the Fort), we brought tennis to kids from myriad backgrounds and experience levels.
Highland Friendship Club
Serving adults with disabilities, Highland Friendship Club provides a community for people to come together and participate in group activities. SPUT partnered with HFC on the courts of Martin Luther King Recreation Center to experience the joys of tennis.
Saint Paul Parks and Recreation provides free programming throughout the summer to kids citywide through the Summer Blast program. Kids come to local recreation centers in the afternoons to experience art, basketball, crafts, games, and more. We brought coaches to 12 different Summer Blast sites throughout the summer.
Saint Paul Public Schools
In the summer of 2018, we had the privilege of working with Saint Paul Public Schools at Benjamin E. Mays School serving their adaptive program. There we provided adaptive tennis programming to youth with disabilities.
Discovery Clubs run all-day programming across Saint Paul during the summers. Saint Paul Urban Tennis is able to partner with various clubs across the city.
As a fellow non-profit serving youth, Arts-US is a fun partner to have for Outreach. Arts-US states their mission as, "Developing Young Leaders in and through the arts, culture, and sciences of the African Diaspora." We work together to keep youth's minds and bodies engaged.
Keystone Community Services provides families with wrap-around services to keep them empowered and healthy. We work with their youth programs to do the same for the kids.
Wholechild is a premier daycare in Saint Paul's Highland neighborhood. This provides us with some of the youngest kids that we serve. We used foam balls inside an old church attic to give pre-schoolers a taste for movement and athletics.
