WLA youth listen as Tong Khang discusses the importance of leadership

Warrior Leadership Academy Youth Build Skills On and Off-Court on Winter Saturdays

SPUT’s Warrior Leadership Academy high school youth have been improving their tennis skills with weekend practices at White Bear LifeTime while also enriching their minds with off-court workshops. On Saturday, November 12, players gathered at the Eastview Recreation Center (SPUT’s headquarters) to connect with guest speakers Tom Streitz (SPUT Interim Executive Director), Samantha Vang (MN State Representative), and Tong Khang (commercial real estate) to learn about their leadership positions and experiences.On Saturday, December 10, WLA youth attended a second college and career readiness workshop. Students learned about the college and career journeys of Mel Yasis, retired Vice President of Marketing at Ecolab; Xiong Vang, admission specialist at Saint Paul College; Houa Thao, a graduate of Augsburg College; and SPUT staff members Vilai Vang and Laura Fedock.

Area Youth and Community Partners Engage at Eastview

Eastview Recreation Center has been brimming with activity over the past month. Youth volleyball and basketball players, a senior futsal group, and daytime pickleball players, are using Eastview weekly. Apply to be Tennis Director at SPUT!

Reporting to the Executive Director, the Program Manager of Tennis & Leadership is responsible for the design, staffing, evaluation and scaling of our tennis & leadership program offerings. This person will oversee our coaches, program coordinators, and site managers to ensure that our tennis program delivery is high quality and consistent with tennis industry standards. Working with the Executive Director and other program staff, this person will assist in the design, implementation and delivery of all tennis programming. The compensation range for this position is $50,000-$70,000 plus benefits. For more information about the position, click here.
