Covid-19 Prevention and Response Plan

Arrive Safe, Stay Safe, Leave Safe.

It's been a loooooooooooong year. An enormous thanks is due to our our front line workers and health leaders who have served and guided us all through an enormously difficult time. Thanks to the efforts of a great many we are now at a place where we can begin to breath a little more freely. However, this all hinges on continued vigilance from our community. Thanks in part to vaccination campaigns and advanced research on outdoor transmission rates, SPUT is now confident that we can make masking optional for our outdoor programs. That said, this is not an invitation for us to let our guards completely down. There are still members of our community who need us to mask responsibly in certain settings and those who need our help to make sure vaccines continue to be accessible. We've earned a chance to enjoy some more freedom, let's not squander it. If you have questions or concerns, please reach out to josh@urbantennis.org. Stay well.

Outdoors

Being outdoors continues to be one of the strongest mitigation strategies for the spread of Covid-19.

Masks Encouraged

Advanced research shows that outdoor transmission is negligible. Masks are encouraged but no longer required.

Movement

Keeping our participants active and moving often reduces risk of spending time close to others.

Distancing

We won't be able to maintain the perfect distance at all times, but we train coaches to maximize it when possible.

You

Our best weapon against covid is our families. Please stay up to date on best practices and avoid unnecessary risks.

Preventative Measures

This pandemic is bigger than any one of us, which is why we need to unify around safe practices. Every person that commits to practicing safe choices contributes to keeping our communities healthy and strong. Here are SPUT's commitments to preventative measures:

Weekly Updates:

Staff will provide an update via email each Monday. At that time we will provide recommendations for staying safe and/or communicate cancellation of programs that weekend.

Before/After the Lesson:

  • Encourage weekly symptoms check for all staff and participants.
  • Quarantine required for all staff and participants potentially infected.
  • Masks required when a risk of transmission is high (either a participant tests positive or has had immediate contact with a positive case)

During the Lesson:

  • Players maintain distance of 6 feet when waiting
  • Sanitize hands frequently

Response Action Plan

Each person must assess their own risk factors. While tennis is among the safest sports to play, there is no 100% risk free guarantee. We are confident in our preventative measures but have strategies in place to respond in the event of a potential participant or staff infection.

Any participant that comes into contact with a positive Covid-19 case or contracts Covid-19 themselves will be asked to quarantine. We will follow these guidelines:

  • If a participant or coach comes in contact with Covid-19:Inform staff immediately (staff will immediately inform all families at that site)
    • Observe 5 day quarantine and then get a negative test to return to programming
    • Masks will be worn by participants and coaches until negative test is confirmed
  • If a participant or coach tests positive for Covid-19:Inform staff immediately (staff will immediately inform all families at that site)
    • Observe a 10-day quarantine and then get a negative test to return to programming
    • Masks will be worn by participants and coaches until negative test is confirmed

Families will be responsible for assessing their own risk comfort levels with attending lessons.
