Now Hiring Program Director

SPUT is seeking a highly motivated Program Director to help our growing nonprofit expand its reach and impact.  Interested candidates should send a cover letter and resume to Becky Cantellano at by October 18, 2015. 

Purpose of Position:  Reporting to the Executive Director (ED), the Program Director will be responsible for execution and evaluation of our annual programming plan, ensuring a high quality product that effectively meets intended outcomes.  A new position in the organization, the Program Director will oversee a team of seasonal coaches and program coordinators. 

Key Objectives:  

  1. Ensure high quality execution of all programs that include but are not limited to:
    1. Warrior Leadership Program
    2. Jr. Team Tennis Program
    3. Tennis Anywhere Partner Programs
    4. Seasonal Park and School Programs
    5. Special Events – tennis tournaments, clinics, play days
  2. Develop Logic Models for all youth programs and assess outcomes to ensure alignment with strategic plan
  3. Coach Management and Development
    1. Recruit and hire all seasonal program staff
    2. Lead the organization and execution of coach training and orientation
    3. Evaluate the skill, experience, and professional development needs of all coaches to provide relevant training and support for seasonal instructors and program coordinators
  4. Cultivate existing relationships with Sprockets Network partners to maximize synergies with other OST providers in St. Paul
  5. Support Adult Programming efforts that include lessons, Cardio Tennis Drills, a World Team Tennis League, and Special Events


  • BA or BS required, major in education or youth development preferred
  • At least 5 years’ experience in youth work
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong project management skills managing complex, multi-faceted projects resulting in measurable successes and program growth
  • Experience having worked with a high-performance, collaborative, constructive peer group
  • Extremely organized with exceptional attention to detail
  • Extensive computer skills, including intermediate or higher level proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Power Point, Word)
  • Proven ability to work unsupervised, and make decisions and solve problems independently, effectively, and creatively 
  • Strength in hiring, recruiting, managing, developing, coaching, and retaining individuals and teams, empowering them to elevate their levels of responsibility and performance
  • Prior management experience with an understanding of human resources, employee performance improvement plans, and corrective action policies
  • Personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and a commitment to and passion for transforming young lives through tennis
  • Extensive knowledge of the game of tennis
