Now accepting applications for summer coach positions!
The Saint Paul Urban Tennis Program began in 1991 when a group of tennis enthusiasts had a goal to bring tennis and important life-skills to the underserved urban youth of Saint Paul. This year, we’ll serve over 3,000 kids through our programs, and are looking for qualified individuals that want to make a difference in the lives of young people to get involved as summer coaches.
The 2012 Junior Program runs from June 18 through July 27 with an extended two week session from July 30 to August 10. Class times for the six week program are from 8:15 am through 1:00 pm with extended hours at four sites. There are other opportunities to pick up more hours through our Outreach Programs, a USTA sanctioned tournament, our 12U Play Days, and Adult Lessons.
We will be at 27 sites this summer. Click here for a map of the locations.
Selection Process:
Please submit your application as soon as possible as positions are limited. We prefer to get all applications by April 2nd but will review submissions until all positions have been filled. We need an applicant profile form from all new and returning coaches. All new coaches must participate in a face to face interview that may include an on-court evaluation. Interviews will take place in April and early May. We will be looking for coaches who show enthusiasm for working with youth and a passion for the sport of tennis.
We will contact you by April 15 if you are selected to participate in an interview. All correspondence will be sent to the email provided in your Applicant Profile. Please note that we rarely hire anyone that has not completed their junior year in high school, however you may volunteer as an unpaid assistant coach by completing this form.
In 2011, we used the following motto for SPUT coaches and will be looking for these attributes in potential new team members. We want our staff to be willing to “be one of the kids” so that everyone has a blast this summer.
