SPUT Forges Close Partnerships with Saint Paul Communities, Organizations and Businesses

From its beginning in 1991 Saint Paul Urban Tennis has created alliances with many different organization, including cities, other non-profit organizations, small businesses, large corporations and individual donors. All have contributed to the ongoing success of SPUT.

City of Saint Paul -- SPUT has developed a rich and deep relationship with the City of Saint Paul over the past 20 years. A recent study showed that over 40,000 kids have been impacted by this relationship over these years. The City opens up all of its tennis courts to SPUT each spring, summer and fall. Through the winter, SPUT provides programming at local Recreation Centers across Saint Paul. The City of Saint Paul has provided SPUT with storage and office space through this time -- and has been a financial supporter as well.

Ramsey County -- Ramsey County, the Ramsey County Sherriff's Department and the RamseyCounty Health Department have been long time partners of SPUT as well. SPUT staff worked with Ramsey County Health Specialists through the winter to integrate a health and nutrition into the Life Skills program that SPUT delivers to its kids. Ramsey County has been a financial supporter of SPUT and most recently offered SPUT an indoor ice arena to be converted into an indoor tennis center.

Saint Paul Schools -- SPUT has worked hard over the past 3 seasons to re-developrelationships with schools in Saint Paul. During the 2010-2011 school year, SPUT will hold tennis programs in:

  • 11 Elementary Schools
  • 2 Middle Schools
  • 6 Senior High Schools

These efforts will expose over 5,000 children to tennis through the winter months.
