The St. Paul Urban Program is a tax-exempt 501(c)(3) non-profit organization with the mission to deliver the life-long game of tennis with its related living skills to the urban youth and families in the City of Saint Paul.  "Helping Kids and Tennis Grow in Saint Paul" is the motto of St. Paul Urban Tennis.

Our goal is to reach out particularly to the under-served populations of Saint Paul and Ramsey County who may otherwise not have the opportunity to play tennis or benefit from our living skills curriculum.

We are all-inclusive, welcoming everyone, regardless of gender, race or ethnic background, disability or income. We do not turn anyone away because of an inability to pay.

The St. Paul Urban Tennis Program is run by a board of 16 dedicated individuals with a passion for tennis and kids. Board members believe, as did Arthur Ashe, that "Through tennis, lives can be changed and spirits reclaimed."

Our curriculum is part tennis and part living skills. We endeavor to teach through tennis values such as respect, goal setting, tolerance, commitment, honesty, responsibility, patience, diversity, emotional control, sportsmanship, confidence and healthy living.

We are a program that attracts urban youth, encourages multicultural involvement, seeks gender equity, and even more, the St. Paul Urban Tennis Program has as its mission to integrate the diverse cultures that comprise our community. It is our goal to provide an arena in which all youths, from all circumstances, can feel safe and can learn and play as one. To this end, we are indeed an urban program.
